BEHIND THE SCENES
Welcome to Volunteers Connect Morris, Girl Scout Troop 80971's Silver Award Project aimed to connect volunteers to local service opportunities. This project stems from the Girl Scout model of Discover, Connect and Take Action. A Girl Scout discovers who she is, what she cares about and her talents. She then collaborates with other people to learn from them and expand her horizons. Finally, she does something to make the world a better place.
DISCOVER
As Girl Scouts, we are exposed to the various needs of our community and learned that even the smallest contribution of our time is welcome. We discovered that no matter what we are good at individually, there is a place for us to help others in the neighborhood.
As Assumption Religious Education students, we are required to complete a certain number of community service hours each year. We realized opportunities to earn such hours are not easily available. Yet, we found some organizations do not always have a sufficient number of people to assist them. We have also researched a few volunteer matching websites and found their opportunities were not local enough.
